Florida Smash and Chicago Slice meet in group play during the June 17-21 MLP St. Petersburg event, the first time the league visits the city. As the hometown Challenger-level side, Florida Smash benefits from local support and familiarity with the St. Pete Athletic venue, featuring players such as Cason Campbell, Chris Crouch, Martina Frantova, and Paula Rives. Chicago Slice, a Premier-level squad with a stronger recent win-loss mark, counters with experienced roster depth including Mari Humberg and Hunter Johnson. Their prior head-to-head results and comparable team DUPR ratings have produced tight contests, leaving trader consensus near even odds. Late roster adjustments, doubles pairings, or venue-specific conditions could shift momentum in either direction ahead of the opening matches.
