Marine Le Pen of the National Rally leads first-round polling at 32–36% following her July 2026 court ruling that shortened an eligibility ban, positioning her as the clear frontrunner for one of the two runoff spots. Jean-Luc Mélenchon of La France Insoumise has risen to 15–17% and qualifies for the second round in most tested scenarios, reflecting voter polarization between the extremes. Édouard Philippe and Gabriel Attal compete for the fragmented center-right, while Bruno Retailleau anchors the traditional right; a center-left primary scheduled for October 2026 will narrow socialist and social-democratic options ahead of the April 18, 2027 first round. Recent candidate declarations, including Éric Zemmour’s in September 2026, and the requirement for 500 elected sponsors by March 2027 continue to shape the final ballot.
