A crowded field of over 15 admitted candidates for the October 4, 2026, Arequipa mayoral race has produced a fragmented contest with no dominant frontrunner. Recent July polling shows several contenders clustered in the low-to-mid 20s or below, including Manuel Vera, Renzo Salas, and Ricardo Ramírez, while incumbent Ruccy Oscco Polar holds visibility but limited consolidation. The market's top prices near 38% for Oscco Polar and Ramírez, with others trailing, reflect trader assessment of this dispersion and the short window for momentum shifts. Key variables include final campaign positioning, potential late endorsements or withdrawals, and any regional economic or governance developments that could consolidate support before ballots close.
