Jonny Clayton enters the 2026 New Zealand Darts Masters opener as a clear favorite, with his top-five world ranking, consistent three-dart averages, and proven checkout finishing reflecting established PDC pedigree. Recent form includes a quarterfinal run at the 2025/26 World Championship and a Premier League night victory despite earlier ankle concerns. Haupai Puha, a New Zealand qualifier with strong domestic results and a 2024 PDC Tour Card, brings home support and occasional upsets—such as a prior win over Clayton—but lacks comparable experience and consistency against elite opponents in best-of formats. Trader consensus aligns with the sizable gap in major-event pedigree and recent high-level results.
