The 2026-27 J1 League season opened in August under a new fall-spring calendar with a mid-season winter break, leaving roughly 30 matches per side after eight rounds. Early defensive metrics show tight parity, with Vissel Kobe conceding the fewest goals per game and FC Tokyo posting the most clean sheets so far, while keepers such as Kim Seung-gyu lead individual tallies. Multiple clubs, including established sides like Kashima Antlers, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, and Kashiwa Reysol alongside promoted teams, maintain comparable goal-prevention records and squad depth. This balance, combined with the long remaining schedule and typical league-wide emphasis on organized backlines and set-piece resilience, leaves trader consensus evenly distributed across a broad group of contenders rather than concentrating on any single favorite.
