Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of Kaohsiung as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Lai Jui-lung holds the leading position in the Kaohsiung mayoral race at 68% implied probability, ahead of Ko Chih-en at 34%, with all other registered candidates at negligible levels. DPP nominee Lai consolidated party support after winning a competitive January 2026 primary against legislators including Chiu Yi-ying, Hsu Chih-chieh, and Lin Tai-hua, building on his legislative record and prior municipal roles under former mayor Chen Chu. KMT nominee Ko, seeking a rematch after her 2022 defeat, has focused recent efforts on Hakka voter outreach, tourism initiatives, and policy proposals such as cultural expos and language programs. Kaohsiung remains a DPP-leaning city with strong local organization advantages for the incumbent party, though polls show varying margins and the November 28 vote is still weeks away. Trader consensus reflects these structural and organizational factors over the closing campaign period.
