The 2026-27 Ligue 2 campaign opens with pronounced parity across promotion aspirants, as relegated Ligue 1 sides including Montpellier HSC, FC Nantes, Stade de Reims, and AS Saint-Étienne integrate higher wage bills alongside Ligue 2 regulars such as En Avant Guingamp, FC Metz, and Grenoble Foot 38. Recent managerial appointments, squad reinforcements, and pre-season form have leveled expectations, while home/away splits and head-to-head trends from prior campaigns underscore the absence of a dominant favorite. With official injury reports and transfer windows still evolving, trader consensus reflects realistic upset potential for any of the bunched contenders to secure third place.
