Chicago White Sox hold a slim lead in the AL Central standings at 77-74, half a game ahead of the Cleveland Guardians at 77-75, with roughly 10-12 games remaining. The White Sox have maintained at least a share of first place since early July after several seasons of last-place finishes, bolstered by stronger home performance and a positive run differential. Recent head-to-head results, including a 7-3 White Sox win followed by a Guardians 7-6 comeback victory on September 15, have kept the race tight while highlighting Cleveland’s late-inning resilience. The Tigers, Twins, and Royals trail by five or more games and show minimal realistic paths to the division title given their records and schedules. Trader consensus reflects the two-team battle and limited time for significant movement.
