Dune: Part Three and Project Hail Mary lead the Oscars 2027 Best Visual Effects market as the closest contenders, with traders assigning them the strongest implied probabilities amid a crowded field of sci-fi and franchise entries. Dune's edge stems from the franchise's proven track record of sweeping VFX categories through intricate world-building and seamless integration of practical and digital work, while Project Hail Mary benefits from early industry anticipation around its ambitious space-set narrative and Ryan Gosling-led production. Supporting factors include Godzilla Minus Zero's creature-focused appeal and The Odyssey's scale under Christopher Nolan, though these trail due to less established VFX momentum. Upcoming trailers, set photos, and guild precursor signals will likely shift sentiment as campaigns intensify ahead of the 2027 ceremony.
