Chen Chen-chung holds the leading position in trader pricing for the Penghu County Magistrate race due to consolidated Kuomintang support and a fragmented field of opponents. The incumbent DPP magistrate's incapacitation after a 2026 head injury prompted his wife's late nomination as replacement candidate, while independents including former Magong mayor Yeh Chu-lin and ex-deputy magistrate Hsu Chih-fu further divide potential opposition votes. July-August polling showed Chen Chen-chung ahead at roughly 30 percent support versus lower shares for the DPP substitute and leading independents. Candidate registration closed in early September with six contenders, and enforcement actions against election irregularities have intensified ahead of the November 28 vote. These dynamics underpin the current implied probabilities reflected in market pricing.
