Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks defenses enter the 2026 season as consensus frontrunners for top ratings in advanced metrics such as DVOA, EPA per play, and points allowed, driven by roster continuity, elite pass-rush talent, and schematic stability under DeMeco Ryans and Mike Macdonald. The Texans built on prior top-three finishes with strong front-seven depth, while the Seahawks benefit from Macdonald’s track record and versatile secondary. Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, and Baltimore Ravens also project as contenders due to recent personnel investments and coaching continuity. Early 2026 results, injury management across the defensive line and secondary, and schedule difficulty will shape outcomes, as defenses often regress from unsustainable turnover or matchup advantages. Trader focus remains on teams demonstrating sustainable pressure and coverage fundamentals over volatile single-week performances.
