South Korea’s iShares MSCI South Korea ETF (EWY) trades near $197–198 in mid-June 2026 after more than doubling year-to-date, propelled by a semiconductor supercycle. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have posted record earnings on surging AI-driven memory demand, lifting KOSPI to fresh highs and driving export growth. The Bank of Korea has held policy rates steady while raising 2026 growth and inflation forecasts, reflecting resilient chip shipments and recovering domestic demand. Near-term swings stem from global tech volatility, U.S. monetary signals, and geopolitical risks, with traders monitoring June export figures and major chipmaker results for further direction. Valuations remain compressed relative to earnings revisions, underscoring the market’s sensitivity to AI supply-chain momentum.
