This market will resolve according to the location of the next meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. If no meeting takes place by December 31 ET, this market will resolve to "No meeting before 2027". A meeting is defined as any encounter where Zelenskyy and Putin are both present and interact with each other in person. For the purpose of this market, a meeting held on Ukrainian territory under the de facto control of Russia (e.g., Crimea) will be considered part of Russia. The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting.Ongoing military operations, including recent Ukrainian drone strikes deep into Russia and stalled U.S.-mediated talks, continue to highlight persistent gaps on territorial control, security guarantees, and demilitarized zones. Fresh Ukrainian proposals delivered to U.S. negotiators in mid-August 2026 have not yet prompted bilateral leader engagement, while Russian statements emphasize preconditions and upcoming parliamentary elections that could influence mobilization. Putin has previously ruled out direct meetings absent prior agreement on terms, consistent with the absence of bilateral summits since early 2022. Trader consensus on no encounter before 2027 reflects these entrenched positions and the lack of imminent diplomatic breakthroughs. Potential shifts could arise from verified progress in trilateral formats, major battlefield developments altering leverage, or unexpected external mediation yielding a confirmed summit within the resolution window.
