Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Magistrate of Yunlin County as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Magistrates appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Chang Chia-chun of the Kuomintang maintains a commanding lead in trader pricing for the November 28, 2026, Yunlin County magistrate election. Her position stems from nomination by the KMT in March 2026 as the niece of term-limited incumbent Chang Li-shan and daughter of former magistrate Chang Jung-wei, leveraging the family's entrenched local networks in agriculture and industry. Recent registration of candidates confirmed her as the primary KMT contender alongside DPP legislator Liu Chien-kuo, who received renewed party backing with President Lai Ching-te heading his campaign headquarters in September. A March poll showed Chang ahead by double digits, and Yunlin's historical voting patterns favor continuity from the outgoing KMT administration. Scenarios that could narrow the gap include stronger central government resource commitments to Liu's platform or unexpected turnout shifts in key townships, though no major late developments have altered the current consensus.
