Trader sentiment on Argentina’s official USD/ARS rate at end-2026 centers on the January 2026 shift to a crawling-peg band that widens monthly in line with lagged inflation rather than a fixed 1 percent pace. With monthly CPI readings holding near 2.9 percent through early 2026, the peso’s nominal depreciation has remained elevated, while the central bank prioritizes reserve accumulation to cover nearly $20 billion in scheduled debt maturities. The May 5 Fitch upgrade to B- on improved fiscal balances has supported confidence and tempered extreme-outcome pricing, yet the persistent gap to parallel rates and sticky price pressures keep the market-implied odds heaviest on brackets below 1,700. Upcoming inflation prints and reserve data will continue to shape the path through year-end.
