The 19-year-old Frenchman has posted solid win rates on the surface this season despite some recent losses in Madrid qualifiers. Mika Petkovic, ranked outside the top 600, arrives with strong momentum after a four-match winning streak at an ITF M15 on clay in the Netherlands, including victories over several higher-ranked opponents. The red-clay surface at Am Rothenbaum should suit both players’ baseline games, yet Gea’s superior depth and consistency give him the edge in what remains a competitive first-round qualifier.
