Vilius Gaubas enters as the slight ranking edge at No. 124 over Leandro Riedi's No. 129, bolstered by strong clay-court momentum from the Mutua Madrid Open last week, where he upset top clay specialist Sebastian Baez in the round of 128 before a narrow exit. Gaubas derives over 90% of his 2026 ranking points from clay, showcasing consistent Challenger success in Oeiras and Murcia. Riedi, a taller server at 191 cm, has struggled on the surface this year with minimal points earned there, arriving off a hard-court Challenger loss in Gwangju to August Holmgren. No head-to-head history exists in this first-round qualifying clash on Rome's outdoor clay at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, with clear weather expected and the winner advancing to face a Q2 opponent. Trader consensus reflects Gaubas's surface affinity and fresher form amid a tightly contested matchup.
