Valentin Vacherot enters the second round of the 2026 National Bank Open as the clear favorite against Mariano Navone on outdoor hard courts in Montreal, backed by a higher ATP ranking near the top 20 and a straight-sets victory over the Argentine in their only prior meeting at the Miami Open earlier this year. Vacherot’s consistent hard-court results and seeding provide a notable edge in a match where Navone, ranked around 44, advanced from the first round but faces a stylistic mismatch against the Monegasque’s aggressive baseline game. Recent form shows Vacherot with mixed results on the surface while Navone has leaned on clay success earlier in the season; the hard-court transition and Vacherot’s rest advantage after a bye could further tilt the implied probabilities. Any late injury updates or serving inconsistencies remain the primary variables that could extend the contest.
