Recent National Weather Service guidance and model consensus point to widespread afternoon thunderstorms across South Florida on September 7, driven by a persistently moist tropical airmass with precipitable water values above the 90th percentile for early September and sea-breeze interactions. These conditions favor cloud cover and rainfall that cap peak heating, aligning with forecast highs near 88–90°F and heat indices near 105°F. Recent days have seen similar patterns with highs of 89–93°F moderated by storms, consistent with climatological September averages. Market-implied probabilities favoring 88–91°F reflect this consensus on convective suppression of maximum temperatures, with limited upside from clearer skies or stronger ridging. Updated NHC and local forecast briefings ahead of Labor Day will provide the next key data points for resolution.
