Recent polling shows the Iowa Senate race between Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson and Democrat state Rep. Josh Turek remains a toss-up, with aggregates placing Hinson narrowly ahead around 47-48% to Turek’s 45-46%, while the open gubernatorial contest favors Democrat state Auditor Rob Sand over Republican Zach Lahn by roughly 5 points in most surveys. Both seats opened after Republicans declined to seek another term, creating opportunities for competitive challenges in a state that has trended Republican but features strong Democratic nominees with statewide profiles and fundraising edges. Cook Political Report ratings reflect this dynamic, shifting the Senate contest to toss-up and the governor race to lean Democrat. Trader consensus in the combo market prices the likelihood of split results or a Democratic sweep highest, consistent with the separate races’ narrow margins and the potential for correlated turnout effects in November.

A candidate will be considered to represent a party by their ballot-listed affiliation or if they are the nominee of that party. Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party.
If the results of these elections are not conclusively known by March 31, 2027, or if an independent or third-party candidate wins one of these elections, this market will resolve to "Other".
For purposes of this market, a "sweep" is when a party wins both races.
The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources have conclusively called the relevant Senate and Gubernatorial elections. If all three sources do not achieve consensus in calling the relevant races for this market, it will resolve based on the official certification.
