Silver prices (XAG/USD) have surged nearly 3% recently to trade near $63–$64 per ounce as of August 8, 2026, reclaiming the 50-day simple moving average and testing resistance near $65 amid improved risk sentiment and technical momentum. Key drivers include robust industrial demand from solar and electronics sectors, alongside positioning ahead of the upcoming U.S. nonfarm payrolls release and other labor market data that week, which influence dollar strength and real yields. Silver remains sensitive to shifts in the Fed funds rate path, Treasury yields, and broader inflation readings, with its dual role as both monetary metal and industrial commodity amplifying volatility relative to gold. Trader-implied odds reflect this data-dependent environment, where stronger-than-expected employment figures could pressure prices via a firmer dollar while softer readings support further gains.
