Recent polling for the September 20 Berlin state election shows a fragmented field, with the CDU at roughly 19-20 percent, closely trailed by Die Linke at 19-21 percent, AfD near 17-19 percent, and the Greens around 16-18 percent. This multi-party competition, following the July withdrawal of incumbent lead candidate Kai Wegner in favor of Stefan Evers, has compressed CDU seat projections into a tight band. The current CDU-SPD governing arrangement faces ongoing scrutiny over local governance issues, while national trends and voter shifts among smaller parties limit any single bloc's momentum. Late polling swings, turnout patterns, or post-election coalition talks could widen the range by altering the CDU's final share in the Abgeordnetenhaus.
