A new Irish Times/TG4/Ipsos B&A poll released May 14 shows Sinn Féin's Janice Boylan leading first preferences at 21% in the Dublin Central by-election, ahead of Social Democrats councillor Daniel Ennis at 18% and independent Gerry Hutch at 14%, with Fine Gael's Ray McAdam at 13% and Fianna Fáil's John Stephens at 4%. Yet Polymarket traders price Ennis as a strong 66.5% favorite to win the seat vacated by Paschal Donohoe, implying confidence in his surge via transfers under Ireland's single transferable vote system, as progressive votes from Greens, Labour, and others flow his way after early eliminations. The May 22 vote remains competitive, with transfers pivotal amid government party weakness in Mary Lou McDonald's constituency.
