Recent northwest winds and springtime synoptic patterns over New Zealand are driving trader focus on a 15–16 °C maximum for Wellington on September 5. Official guidance from MetService and international models currently clusters daily highs in this narrow band, with partly cloudy skies, gusty conditions, and limited moisture expected to moderate daytime warming. Minor differences in model timing of any weak frontal passage or cloud cover explain the near-even split between the two leading outcomes, while historical September averages near 14–15 °C provide context for why extremes remain low-probability. Updated model runs and MetService briefings over the next 48 hours represent the key data points that could shift implied probabilities before resolution.
