TX-35 became an open seat after 2025 redistricting shifted its boundaries away from Austin toward San Antonio suburbs and rural Bexar County areas, producing an R+4 partisan lean where Trump carried the new lines by double digits in 2024. Democrat Johnny Garcia, a Bexar County deputy sheriff, won his May runoff nomination and faces Republican Carlos De La Cruz, an Air Force veteran and brother of Rep. Monica De La Cruz, who secured the GOP nod the same day. Recent polling shows the race within a few points either way, reflecting the district's competitiveness despite the structural Republican tilt. Traders assign a modest Democratic edge consistent with the candidates' profiles and the broader midterm environment three months before the November general election.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
