Dalton Eatherly, known online as Chud the Builder, faces attempted criminal homicide and related firearm charges in Montgomery County, Tennessee, stemming from a May 2026 shooting outside the Clarksville courthouse during a verbal altercation that turned physical. The case advanced to the grand jury after Eatherly waived a preliminary hearing and entered a not guilty plea, with prosecutors citing surveillance evidence of the sequence of events. As of mid-August 2026, the matter remains in the pre-trial stage in circuit court with no trial date set, following Eatherly’s recent release on a reduced $1 million bond after roughly three months in custody. Trader consensus on non-conviction reflects the early procedural posture, the high evidentiary threshold for securing a felony conviction, and standard legal protections including potential self-defense arguments, absent any plea agreement or jury outcome.
