Recent July JOLTS data showed job openings little changed at 7.3 million, following a downward revision to 7.182 million in June, with hires and separations holding near 5.1 million and the quits rate easing to 1.9%. This stability amid a cooling labor market—marked by subdued hiring trends and Fed concerns over below-breakeven job gains—underpins the tight clustering of implied probabilities across the 7.1M–7.4M brackets. Traders appear to price in modest month-to-month variability around these levels ahead of the September 29 release, with the closely matched odds highlighting uncertainty over whether August will reflect further softening in labor demand or hold near recent averages.
