Bo French holds a narrow lead over Jon Rosenthal in the 2026 Texas Railroad Commissioner race, with recent polls showing French ahead by three points amid 9-13% undecided voters and low name recognition for both candidates. French secured the Republican nomination in a May primary runoff by defeating incumbent Jim Wright, emphasizing energy sector priorities alongside cultural issues, while Rosenthal, a state representative and former oil-field engineer, highlights technical expertise on regulation and grid concerns. Texas has not elected a Democrat to the commission since 1990, yet high undecided shares among independents and some Republicans sustain competitiveness heading into the November general election. Trader pricing reflects this dynamic, with room for shifts from campaign spending, turnout, or late developments in a low-profile statewide contest.
