The commencement of Duane “Keffe D” Davis’s murder trial in Las Vegas this week has anchored trader sentiment around a 64.5% implied probability of conviction. Prosecutors opened by highlighting Davis’s own prior admissions—including 1990s interviews and his 2019 memoir—positioning him as the organizer who supplied the weapon in retaliation for an assault on his nephew, though he is not alleged to have fired the shots that killed Tupac Shakur. The defense immediately countered that those statements are exaggerations or fiction and that no physical evidence places Davis at the scene. With the first and only person ever charged in the 1996 killing now facing weeks of testimony, forensic evidence, and witness accounts, market odds reflect the skin-in-the-game assessment that the prosecution’s reliance on Davis’s recorded words creates a credible path to conviction while leaving room for reasonable doubt.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Duane Keith Davis is convicted of at least one murder charge in the ongoing State of Nevada v. Duane Keith Davis case by either December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET or, in the event of a mistrial, by the end of any retrial that begins before that date. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
If this case ends due to a dismissal, or results in any situation in which no judgment is rendered by the court, or results in a verdict of Not Guilty for all murder charges (including by reason of lack of criminal responsibility due to mental illness), this market will resolve to "No". A plea agreement will qualify to resolve this market "Yes" only if it results in a judgment of conviction for murder.
If all murder charges against Davis are dropped, or otherwise changed such that they are no longer considered murder, this market will immediately resolve to "No".
This market will resolve according to the initial judgment rendered in this case. Any appeals will have no bearing on the resolution of this market.
The primary resolution source will be an official judgment delivered by the ruling court; however, other credible reporting may be used.
