OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol currently leads its lineup on Humanity's Last Exam at 49.5% accuracy, trailing Anthropic's top Claude variants near 55% as of mid-August 2026. Rapid iteration within the GPT-5 series, including specialized reasoning modes for coding, science, and cybersecurity, has driven incremental gains since the initial GPT-5 release in 2025, though benchmark saturation and expert-vetted questions continue to expose gaps in multi-step reasoning. Competitive pressure from Anthropic and Google DeepMind models, alongside OpenAI's focus on safety-aligned training and efficiency improvements, shapes trader views on whether further 2026 updates could close the gap before year-end. Upcoming developer conferences and potential model previews remain key catalysts for score shifts.
