Wisconsin’s 3rd congressional district remains one of the most competitive House races in the 2026 cycle, with incumbent Republican Derrick Van Orden facing Democratic nominee Rebecca Cooke in a November 3 rematch. Van Orden’s narrow 2024 victory by roughly 2.7 points in an R+3 district, despite stronger Republican presidential performance, has shaped trader views. Cooke’s August 11 primary win, backed by substantial national Democratic support and recent internal polling showing her ahead, has reinforced expectations of a strong challenge. Cook Political Report and other analysts classify the seat as a toss-up, citing fundraising, voter turnout patterns, and the district’s modest Republican lean as key variables that could shift the outcome before Election Day.
