Yulia Putintseva enters this Strasbourg qualifying clash with a clear edge in clay-court experience, having reached the quarterfinals at the event in 2021 and maintaining a stronger historical record on the surface despite her current 77 ranking. The 31-year-old Kazakh brings tactical defensive skills and consistency that often prevail in early-round matches on red clay. Antonia Ruzic, the younger Croatian ranked 59, has shown solid recent form on faster surfaces but limited success on clay this season, with her aggressive baseline game still developing at the WTA level. No prior head-to-head exists between them, leaving surface adaptation and match fitness as primary variables in what shapes up as a competitive opener for the main-draw spot.
