Sabalenka advanced past Jaqueline Cristian in the third round despite admitting she's still finding her clay rhythm at high-altitude Madrid, where she's a three-time champion with strong surface history. Osaka impressed by dismantling Anhelina Kalinina 6-1, 6-3, reviving her "Clayomi" form, but her head-to-head trails at 1-2 overall. No reported injuries for either after Sabalenka's minor post-Miami issue that sidelined her from Stuttgart; stylistic clash favors Sabalenka's power baseline game on the slower clay.
