Recent official forecasts from the Chengdu Meteorological Observatory indicate highs of 34–35°C on September 7, sustained by a lingering subtropical high-pressure ridge that has produced similar readings the prior two days amid above-average early-September warmth. This “autumn tiger” pattern aligns with climatological norms for late-summer heat in the Sichuan Basin before the expected arrival of cooler air and widespread rainfall beginning September 8, which models show will drop daily maxima into the mid-20s. Traders are therefore weighting short-range guidance from the China Meteorological Administration, noting the narrow window before the front arrives and the limited historical precedent for sustained 35°C readings this late in the season. Updated model runs over the next 48 hours will be the key catalyst for any sentiment shifts.
