Recent polling has shifted Nate Silver’s FLIPR model on the Silver Bulletin to assign Democrats a 58–69 percent chance of Senate control as of mid-to-late September 2026, reflecting a Democratic generic-ballot lead near 7–8 points among likely voters, President Trump’s sub-40 percent approval ratings, and historical midterm patterns that typically disadvantage the president’s party. Republicans currently hold a 53–47 majority and must limit Democratic net gains to three seats or fewer on November 3 to retain control. The model’s recent movement toward Democrats stems from stronger showings in key Republican-held contests including Maine, Ohio, Texas, Alaska, and Iowa, alongside joint simulation of Senate, House, and gubernatorial races. Trader prices on related markets track whether the forecast crosses back above 50 percent for Republicans by specific dates before Election Day.

The resolution source will be Silver Bulletin's 2026 Flipr Forecast of Senate control, using the "Deluxe" version of the forecast, that can be found at https://www.natesilver.net/p/nate-silver-2026-midterm-election-polls-model.
Changes in the methodology by which Silver Bulletin calculates the forecast will have no bearing on the resolution of this market. If either Silver Bulletin or Flipr rebrand or otherwise change names or urls, this market will resolve based on the clearly-identified successor, should one exist. If Silver Bulletin's "Deluxe" Flipr model becomes permanently unavailable, the "Classic" model will be used.
