Recent Democratic polling gains, including generic ballot leads of 7–8 points and strong results in key states, have shifted Nate Silver’s FLIPR model to assign Democrats a 59–65 percent chance of Senate control as of mid-to-late September 2026. Republicans currently hold a 53–47 majority and must defend more seats on a map that requires Democrats to secure a net gain of four. The model blends adjusted polling averages, fundamentals such as incumbency and fundraising, historical midterm patterns against the president’s party, and expert ratings. Trader consensus on related markets tracks these model movements closely. Polling through October and any shifts in the national environment remain the primary variables ahead of the November 3 election.

The resolution source will be Silver Bulletin's 2026 Flipr Forecast of Senate control, using the "Deluxe" version of the forecast, that can be found at https://www.natesilver.net/p/nate-silver-2026-midterm-election-polls-model.
Changes in the methodology by which Silver Bulletin calculates the forecast will have no bearing on the resolution of this market. If either Silver Bulletin or Flipr rebrand or otherwise change names or urls, this market will resolve based on the clearly-identified successor, should one exist. If Silver Bulletin's "Deluxe" Flipr model becomes permanently unavailable, the "Classic" model will be used.
