Recent strength in the Warhol market, driven by the record $195 million sale of “Shot Sage Blue Marilyn” at Christie’s in September 2026, has buoyed sentiment ahead of the October 7 Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated auction featuring a 1964 Flowers painting estimated at $2.5–3.5 million. Comparable 2026 results for Flowers works range from mid-five figures for smaller screenprints to $2.6 million for multi-canvas configurations with strong provenance, reflecting sustained collector demand for the iconic 1964 motif. Traders are watching how the Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods-curated lot performs against estimates, as outcomes could clarify momentum for the series amid broader Pop Art interest. A separate forgery scandal involving alleged fake Warhols has emerged but centers on unverified works.
