Strong ongoing demand for Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” in the limited 70mm IMAX format—only 25 U.S. screens capable of the presentation—has kept the market near even at 52% for another extension beyond the current September 16 cutoff. The July 30 extension through mid-September followed weeks of sell-outs up to seven weeks ahead, fueled by the film’s A CinemaScore, strong word-of-mouth, and repeat-viewing potential for the three-hour epic shot entirely on IMAX film cameras. Traders weigh this sustained premium-format appetite against the finite number of venues, the approaching end of the exclusive run, and the possibility that demand normalizes as wider theatrical availability increases. Key swing factors include upcoming ticket-sales reports, any official IMAX or Universal announcements on added dates, and box-office trajectory in the coming weeks.
