The Toronto Blue Jays and Detroit Tigers enter this matchup with nearly identical sub-.500 records, both sitting near the bottom of their respective divisions. Detroit carries momentum from a 3-2 walk-off victory in the series opener on May 15, capped by Spencer Torkelson’s ninth-inning single after Toronto had held a 2-0 lead. The Tigers’ strong home record at Comerica Park contrasts with the Blue Jays’ four-game road skid. Pitching matchups feature Mason Fluharty making a rare start for Toronto against Casey Mize’s return to the rotation for Detroit. Toronto’s injury list, including catcher Alejandro Kirk, further complicates lineup stability, while both clubs seek to build consistency amid a tightly contested AL slate.
