This market will resolve according to the person appointed as the next permanent manager of SL Benfica. If no permanent manager is appointed by August 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other." Appointments of 'interim,' 'caretaker,' or other non-permanent managers will not impact this market's resolution. An announcement of a new permanent manager's appointment before this market's close date will immediately resolve this market to the corresponding option, regardless of when the announced appointment goes into effect. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from SL Benfica; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.Marco Silva's near-certain position in the Benfica manager market stems from the club's official confirmation of an agreement with the Portuguese coach to succeed José Mourinho, who departed for Real Madrid after Real triggered his release clause. Silva, fresh from five seasons at Fulham where he established Premier League stability, finalized a two-year deal with an extension option through 2028-29, aligning with Benfica's timeline for the 2026-27 Primeira Liga campaign and addressing the need for continuity amid title competition with Sporting CP and FC Porto. This rapid succession, facilitated by shared Portuguese connections and agent involvement, has consolidated trader consensus around the appointment's finality. Unlikely disruptions could still emerge from unforeseen contract complications, personal circumstances forcing withdrawal, or a sudden shift in club leadership priorities, though current reporting shows no such indicators.
