Ben Shelton enters the Stuttgart Open second round as the clear favorite against fellow American Marcos Giron, with traders assigning him dominant implied probability due to his superior serve power, net-rushing aggression, and strong grass-court suitability ahead of Wimbledon. Shelton holds a 2-1 head-to-head edge and recently overcame Giron in three sets on clay at Hamburg, while his raw athleticism and baseline-to-net transitions have overwhelmed similar opponents on faster surfaces. Giron remains competitive from the back of the court and has pushed sets in prior meetings, yet lacks the consistent firepower to regularly trouble the top seed. The ongoing match, already interrupted once, adds scheduling uncertainty, but Shelton’s recent form and stylistic advantages continue to anchor market consensus.
