Lionel Messi's inclusion in Argentina's official 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, announced on May 29, has anchored the near-certain market consensus at 99.4% implied probability for "Yes." The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner and defending champions' captain has continued his international cycle under coach Lionel Scaloni, with fitness concerns from late-May Inter Miami matches resolved as minor muscle fatigue rather than serious injury. Historical precedent for a record sixth appearance, combined with his public desire to compete when match-sharp, reinforces trader confidence ahead of the North American tournament. A late serious injury remains the only realistic path to an upset outcome.
