Lorenzo Sonego faces qualifier Edas Butvilas in the Geneva Open round of 32 on clay, where the Italian veteran’s extensive ATP experience and prior success on the surface could shape the contest. Butvilas, a 21-year-old Lithuanian ranked near 256 with a career-high of 201, advanced through qualifying with straight-set victories, including a dominant 6-4, 6-1 win over Alexandre Muller, signaling solid recent momentum. Sonego enters with a mixed 2026 record and recent losses in Rome, yet his head-to-head edge against lower-ranked opponents and familiarity with the tournament’s conditions remain key factors. Both players’ current form and adaptation to the slower clay will influence outcomes in this early-round clash.
