In the event of ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on the official certified referendum results published by Swiss government authorities, such as the Swiss Federal Chancellery (https://www.admin.ch/gov/en/start/documentation/votes/20260308.html) and the information portal provided by the Swiss authorities (https://www.ch.ch/en/votes-and-elections/). Subsequent litigation, administrative challenges, or failure of any post-approval implementation steps will not be considered.Switzerland's June 14 referendum presents voters with two distinct measures under the country's direct democracy framework. The "No to a Switzerland with 10 million" popular initiative, sponsored by the Swiss People's Party, seeks a constitutional cap on permanent residents at 10 million by 2050, with automatic curbs on immigration, asylum rules, and family reunification once the population reaches 9.5 million. Current figures stand near 9.1 million, driven largely by labor-market inflows since bilateral agreements with the EU took effect. The Federal Council opposes the measure, citing risks to EU free-movement accords, skilled-worker shortages, and economic growth. The second item amends the Civilian Service Act to tighten eligibility for alternative service by conscientious objectors. Recent polling indicates the population-cap initiative remains closely divided, while the civil-service reform holds broader support ahead of the nationwide vote.
