National Weather Service forecasts for Austin on September 16 project a high near 99°F under partly cloudy skies with southeast winds of 5-10 mph, following a 101°F reading the prior day. Persistent southerly flow and elevated dew points support heat indices near 106-107°F, while limited afternoon cloud cover may cap peak readings in the upper 90s rather than pushing into triple digits. Historical averages for mid-September hover around 91°F, with records at 99°F, positioning 98-99°F as the market favorite at 58.5% implied probability. Traders appear to weigh model consensus on modest cooling against any last-minute clearing that could favor the 31.5% odds on 100-101°F. Updated NWS guidance remains the key near-term catalyst.
