Official forecasts from the National Weather Service place Austin's September 17 high in the upper 90s to near 100°F, with Austin-Bergstrom at 99°F and nearby sites around 100°F under partly to mostly cloudy skies and a 20% chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms. East to southeast winds of 5-10 mph and building afternoon cloud cover from potential convection introduce modest cooling risk that could cap the peak near 96-97°F versus allowing 98-99°F if skies remain clearer longer. Ensemble guidance and recent model runs show limited spread around these values, with heat indices above 105°F but minimal change expected from prior days. Market odds near 38.5% each for the top two bins reflect this narrow forecast window and the resolution sensitivity to exact peak timing and any brief storm cooling.
