Recent National Weather Service and model guidance indicate a mostly cloudy day with southwest winds of 10-20 mph, supporting a highest temperature in the mid-60s as the marine layer remains influential despite September's typical weakening. Persistent onshore flow from the cool California Current and a moderate Central Valley thermal low sustain stratus and limit solar heating, keeping readings below the 70.8°F historical average high. The close contest between 66-67°F and 68-69°F bins reflects uncertainty in marine layer depth and exact clearing timing, with even small shifts in inversion strength or wind direction capable of adding or subtracting a few degrees. Updated model runs and afternoon observations will provide the key data ahead of market resolution.
