Recent energy price surges tied to Middle East geopolitical tensions have pushed Eurozone headline inflation to 2.9% in July 2026, with the energy component accelerating to 10%, prompting upward revisions in 2026 annual forecasts to around 3.1% by the European Commission and similar levels from other institutions. This dynamic underpins the market-implied odds favoring the 3.1%+ outcome at 46.1%, reflecting trader consensus on persistent pass-through effects amid ECB rate hikes in June and a data-dependent policy stance. Core measures remain firmer near 2.5%, while upcoming HICP releases and central bank communications could influence the path toward the ECB’s 2% target.
