Therese Terlaje secured the Democratic nomination in the August 1, 2026 primary with 47.8% of the vote, narrowly defeating Josh Tenorio in a contest that highlighted her legislative experience and party support. Vicente Ada advanced on the Republican side after winning his primary with 60.5%. With the general election set for November 3 and no term-limited incumbent in the race, trader consensus reflects Guam's historical Democratic lean in gubernatorial contests, positioning Terlaje as the frontrunner at 66% implied probability while Ada trails at 33.5%. A late August candidate forum underscored shared priorities on economic and social issues without shifting momentum. The race remains subject to standard turnout and late-cycle dynamics typical of territorial elections.
