Robert Sprague maintains a lead in trader consensus for the Ohio secretary of state race, reflecting the state's Republican lean and his background as state treasurer following a decisive May primary win. Allison Russo secured the Democratic nomination after prevailing in her primary against a political newcomer, positioning the contest as an open-seat matchup on November 3. Ohio's broader political environment, including Republican advantages in recent executive contests, supports Sprague's edge, though the race remains competitive amid varying turnout expectations and the presence of a Libertarian candidate. Forecasters rate the contest as leaning Republican, with limited recent polling leaving room for shifts based on statewide dynamics or late developments.
